Jim Corrao is a music composer, songwriter, musician, arranger, and producer. His decades of lasting output to date include over 100 cross-genre cross-generational songs and a selection of classical and instrumental pieces he generically refers to as “keepers”. With composition dates from the 1980s to present, the term “keeper” stems from Jim’s long history of having had come to him countless original musical ideas of which most all are almost immediately abandoned excepting those that by his visceral appraisal possess the timeless quality that characterizes truly compelling music.
Jim finds it particularly noteworthy in his personal experience with composing that, without exception, a truly compelling piece of music, song or other, comes only when and as it comes, whereby never has a “keeper” come from any deliberate attempt nor has its genre come from the intent to write in any particular style. As such each has come in its own time and taken on a form and so life of its own, then suggesting, at times even demanding, a particular style of arrangement, and if a song, lead and background vocalization.
Born in Boston, raised in the suburbs of Chicago and Milwaukee, and having lived in Chicago, Juneau, AK, San Francisco, the LA area, and now residing in Jacksonville, FL, with his dear wife Jocelyn, Jim looks back very gratefully for the opportunities he’s had to live, work, and enjoy life in some highly varied and desirable locations. After a career in institutional investment management and investment systems, Jim feels blessed to now have the time to engage much more in his spiritual, familial, and artistic interests, which together now include his shared venture Rocky Pimento Music. And in and beyond this, Jim loves to share compelling (here's that word again) thoughts and ideas with others, especially one on one.
